PREVALENCE OF AND CONTROL OVER
INFECTIOUS DISEASE.
The prevalence of notifiable infectious disease throughout the
district was considerably greater in 1934 than in the previous year,
the total number of notifications received being 448 as compared
with 362 in 1933. The increase could be accounted for entirely
by the increased prevalence of scarlet fever, which was responsible
for well over one half of all the notifications received. The total
number of cases removed to hospital or sanatorium was 402, a very
large increase on the number for the previous year, which was 311.
