the Ophthalmic Surgeon are not being followed.
(g) Ear Disease and Hearing.
Otorrhoea, Deafness, Impetigo and Wax in the Ear, etc., are
all attended at the Minor Ailments' Clinic.
(h) Dental Defects.
Arrangements are made at the annual Dental Inspection in each
School for the examination of the following groups of children:—
(a) 6 years of age; (b) 7 years of age; (c) 10 years of age. Dental
Treatment is provided on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Dental
Clinic.
At the Dental Clinic, the times of arrival and departure are
noted by the Nurse on the Appointment Card or Form. On returning
to School, the child hands to the Head Teacher the record of
attendance at the Clinic, and any necessary adjustment in the Class
Register is made accordingly.
(i) Crippling Defects and Orthopaedics.
These are treated at Special Departments of the North Middlesex,
Royal Northern and Prince of Wales's Hospitals, the
Orthopaedic and Children's Hospital, at Great Ormond Street.
9.—OPEN-AIR EDUCATION.
(a) Playground Classes.
Such classes are held at Muswell Hill, Bounds Green and other
Schools when the season and weather allow.
(b) School Journeys.
School journeys have not been undertaken in this district up to
the present, but a proposal from the Bounds Green Boys' Department
for a visit by 40 boys is receiving consideration by the
Committee.
(c) School Camps.
A School-children's Camp was held at Hatfield Park—under the
auspices of the J.O.C.—during the summer vacation, when 80 boys
were given 14 days' enjoyment. Sleeping and dining tents were
provided, together with a field kitchen as in former years; and
altogether, the Camp was a great success, and the boys derived
considerable benefit from their change of air.
