fully up to the modern standard. I have not seen any slates and
slate pencils for years. Sanitation has received much attention
during the past year, offices having been extended and modernised;
and, on the whole, a sufficiency of accommodation is provided. A
good supply of water for drinking and washing is laid on.
Many of the desks have had to be replaced by larger ones, as
of late years we have found that the size of the children has slightly
increased. Great care has been taken to fit the children with
suitable desks and seats.
The blackboards are renovated as required, and are in good
order.
Schools and cloakrooms are kept clean by the several caretakers.
I sometimes find the windows of the cloakrooms shut when they
ought to be open.
The general arrangements of the Schools in relation to the
health of the scholars appears to be satisfactory.
Arrangements made for drying clothes, Not applicable in this
boots, etc. District, as all the

Supervision of children during meals close proximity to
Service of meals the Schools.
One is often told by parents who have lived in other Districts
in London, that their children thrive much better in this neighbourhood,
due, no doubt, to our plentiful open spaces and the height
we live above the sea level. Wood Green is certainly a bracing
place wherein to live, in spite of its clay subsoil.
The following alterations and additions have been made to the
Elementary Schools during the year:—
White Hart Lane School .. Practical Instruction Centre
built.
Noel Park School Removal of Galleries on which
the desks stood, so that the
Floors are now level in two
Infants' Classrooms.
Myopic Cloakroom, addition of
Lavatory Basins.
