POPULATION.
The population in 1921 (Census Year) was 50,707, an average
of 4.95 persons per house. Since that date 556 houses have been
erected in the District. Allowing a deduction of 0.8% for houses
not occupied, I estimate the population for 1925 at 52,950; the
Registrar-General's figure for 1925 is 51,960, showing a
difference of 990. For the purposes of this report I am taking the
Registrar General's figure.
I give below the population for each Ward for the years 1921 and 1925:—
