BIRTHS.
There were 750 Births, as against 691 in 1918 and 882 in 1917.
The births were:—289 males and 361 females; of these, 29 were
illegitimate (viz., 15 males and 14 females).
This corresponds to an annual rate of 14.31, compared with
12.88 per thousand in 1918, and 16.96 per thousand in 1917.
The Birth-rate for England and Wales was 18.5.

DEATHS.
There were 405 deaths registered within the District during
the year, and there were 157 residents died outside the District,
making a total of 562, from which must be deducted 18 deaths
of non-residents.
The correct number is therefore 544, which is equal to an annual
rate of 10.81 per 1,000 of the population, as compared with 13.8,
the death-rate for England and Wales for the same period.
