Scabies.—See report on Uncleanliness and Scabies on pages 9, 10 and 11.
Uncleanliness.—During 1946 cleanliness inspections were carried out in the schools on 342 occasions.
The total number of examinations and re-examinations made during the year was 34,351.

Medical Treatment in Willesden.—During the year 1946 school children were followed up by the Health
Department on account of 12,441 medical defects and 6,883 dental defects. Of those defects found to require
treatment, medical or dental treatment was obtained for 15,495 and domestic treatment was obtained for 1,240.
91 per cent. of the medical defects were treated, 77 per cent. receiving medical treatment and 10 per cent. domestic
treatment; 86 per cent. of the dental defects followed up were treated. No record is available of defects requiring
treatment which were not followed up. 98 per cent. of the total medical defects treated and 99 per cent. of the total
dental defects treated were dealt with by the Education Committee. The remainder, or 2 per cent. of the medical
defects and 1 per cent. of the dental defects treated, were dealt with by private practitioners, voluntary hospitals, or
other charitable institutions, or Public Assistance. In connection with the defects treated, the children concerned
made 55,851 attendances at the Health Centres.
