MOTHERS AND CHILDREN UNDER FIVE YEARS.
Municipal Health Centres.—At the 3 Municipal Health Centres, expectant mothers attended the medical
consultation and medical treatment Clinics on 23.734 occasions, nursing mothers 29,264, and children under 5
53,357, making a total at these clinics of 106,355 attendances in 1946.
Out of the total number of 3,420 children registered as born alive in 1946, 2,270, or 66 per cent., subsequently
attended the Municipal Health Centres.
The following table shows the total attendances of Expectant and Nursing Mothers and Children under 5 years of age at the Municipal Health Centres since 1938 :—

Princess Road Voluntary Centre.—The Council took over the Princess Road Voluntary Infant Welfare Centre
in Kilburn as from 1st April, 1942. Children under 5 years of age attended the Medical Consultations at this Centre
on 1,903 occasions and nursing mothers on 1,572 occasions during 1946.
MATERNITY HOSPITAL.
Bookings.—1,405 patients were booked during 1946 for confinement in the Willesden Maternity Hospital.
The fees at which these 1,405 cases were booked varied from 45 at £15 to 114 free. The average fee per case was
approximately £6 6s. 6d.
During 1946, 652 applicants for confinement in the Willesden Maternity Hospital were unable to be booked
for the reasons set out below :—
