THE FIFTEENTH ANNUAL REPORT
on the
WILLESDEN MATERNITY HOSPITAL
for the Year 1945.
By ARNOLD WALKER, M.A., M.B., B.Ch., F.R.C.S., F.R.C.O.G.
During 1945 the work of the Maternity Hospital went on normally. Over a thousand women were delivered
without a maternal death, which maintained the maternal mortality rate for booked cases from the opening of the
Hospital at a figure below one per thousand. The chief problem the Hospital had to face at the end of the year
was the grave shortage of trained midwives.
