I desire to call attention to the miles run by vehicles Nos. 6 and 7 in the above table, both of
which are ambulances. Vehicle No. 6 came into use in February, 1930, and by 31st March, 1937, had
run 94,039 miles (i.e., in a little more than 7 years). Vehicle No. 7 came into use in January, 1931, and
by the 31st March, 1937, had run 102,422 miles (i.e. in a little more than 6 years). It should be kept in
mind that an ambulance which has run approximately 100,000 miles cannot be considered any longer as
reliable as ambulances should be and it will therefore be seen that it is proper to assess the life of a
sickness and accident ambulance at round about 7 years, having regard to the demands made on the
service.
