REPORT ON DERMATOLOGICAL AND ACTINOTHERAPEUTIC DEPARTMENT FOR THE
YEAR ENDED 31st DECEMBER, 1936.

No striking new feature comes to light in the work either in the Artificial Sunlight Department
or in that for the treatment of ulcerated legs. The numbers of patients attending have been well
maintained and there is no doubt of the popularity of the services rendered among the citizens of
willesden. A further step in increasing the usefulness of the Skin Clinic has been taken in making
arrangements for carrying out minor surgical operations on patients at one of the Borough centres
instead of sending them to hospitals. This development is much appreciated as it avoids the necessity
for long journeys by children and their parents with frequently a good deal of waiting at the other end.
Only three cases of ringworm of the scalp occurred in the Borough during the year, showing
that the measures adopted by the Council to deal with this complaint have continued to be successful.
The most troublesome skin complaint which has to be dealt with is scabies which is more common than
it should be, but the introduction of the Danish method of treating it gives ground for hope that it
will shortly be more efficiently controlled.
