At the close of the year there were 8 Nursing Homes on the Register of the Corporation of
Willesden with accommodation for 56 patients.
The Arrangements made for the Supervision of Maternity and other Homes
Registered under the Act.
Maternity and Nursing Homes in Willesden are visited once in every three months, for the
purpose of routine inspection. This includes inspection of the home, enquiries as to the staff, inspection
of register and report book required to be kept under the Nursing Homes Registration Act,
1927, and the bye-laws made by the Council under section 4 of the Act. In addition, special visits
are made to the homes for all other conditions requiring attention.
The inspections are carried out by a qualified nurse with special experience in midwifery.
She is directly responsible to the Medical Officer of Health in giving reports as to the condition of
the homes and for receiving instructions.
The keepers of Maternity or Nursing Homes are required under the Children and Young
Persons Act, 1932, to send particulars to the Local Authority of any child under the age of 9 years
received into the homes, both at the time of reception and of removal, unless the child is accompanied
by a parent or guardian.
