The maximum number of the above cases in hospital on any one day was 14 out of a total of
114, this being the number of patients in hospital on the 24th January. Towards the end of the year
a certain number of cases referred for admission to hospital by outside Authorities had to be refused
as no beds were available for their accommodation. The amount of income derived from the
maintenance of these patients during the year was £ 1,211 2s. 0d.
Hospital Buildings.
(1) Cubicles. During November the Council decided to furnish and equip the second cubicle
pavilion of 10 beds and it will soon be ready for occupation. During the latter part of the year the
hospital accommodation was taxed to its utmost extent and the cubicle accommodation of 10 beds,
then available, was insufficient to deal with all the patients which it was desirable to treat and nurse
in this manner. It is hoped that the third pavilion will be furnished and equipped to receive patients
during the present year.
