Of the Midwives living in Willesden it will be noted that apart from institutions or associations
the largest number of midwifery cases any single midwife attended as a midwife was 51, and that the
largest total of cases any single midwife attended was 61, being 51 cases which she attended as a
Midwife and 10 as a Maternity Nurse.
During the year ended 31st December, 1933, 149 notifications were received from Midwives
practising in Willesden in accordance with the rules of the Central Midwives Board. Of these 149
notifications 125 were received from Midwives living and practising in Willesden, and 24 from Midwives
practising in but living outside Willesden. Of the 149 notifications received 133 were in respect of
calling in Medical help, 95 being in respect of the mother and 38 in respect of the child.
In addition 4 notifications were received from Midwives acting as Maternity Nurses.
The total fees paid by the Council to Medical practitioners called in by Midwives during the
year ending December 31st, 1933, was £68 11s. 0d. During the year £28 18s. 0d. was recovered from
patients.
