PUBLIC HEALTH (PREVENTION OF TUBERCULOSIS) REGULATIONS, 1925.
No case was dealt with under the above regulations during 1931.
PUBLIC HEALTH ACT, 1925. SECTION 62.
Removal to hospital of infectious persons suffering from pulmonary tuberculosis.
No action was taken under this section during 1931.
GENERAL PROVISION OF HEALTH SERVICES FOR THE AREA.
Nursing in the Home.
(a) General Nursing.
(b) Nursing of infectious diseases.
There have been no changes in the arrangements for the above outlined in last year's Annual
Report.
Midwives—Employment of, or subsidy to, practising Midwives, by Public Health Authority.
The only change under this head during the year is that the Council resolved that an
expectant mother who provides at her own cost a midwife to act as a maternity nurse may have
the difference between the fees of this midwife who is a maternity nurse, and the fees of a maternity
nurse who is not a midwife, made up to her by the Council.
In accordance with Section 10 of the Midwives Act, 1902, 33 Midwives gave notice in
the month of January, 1932, of their intention to practise in Willesden.
CLINICS AND TREATMENT CENTRES.
These remain as given in the Annual Health Report for 1930, but during 1931 the treatment
of Varicose Ulcers was undertaken at Municipal Health Centre 1. A report on this work appears
in Appendix D.
HOSPITALS.
There is no change to record in the Hospital services set out in last year's Report.
INSTITUTIONAL PROVISION FOR UNMARRIED MOTHERS, ILLEGITIMATE
INFANTS AND HOMELESS CHILDREN IN THE DISTRICT.
These remain as stated in the Annual Health Report for 1930.
AMBULANCE FACILITIES.
Motor Ambulances are available as follows:—
(a) For infectious cases—
1 ambulance.
(b) For non-infectious cases, accident cases and maternity cases—
3 ambulances.
These motor ambulances have been established and are maintained by the Willesden Urban
District Council. The garage is situated at the Municipal Hospital, Brentfield Road, Neasden,
N.W. 10.
An all night service is in operation but it is only partial as there is only one driver on duty
and any calls received when he is out cannot be dealt with.
A detailed report on the service for the financial year 1930-31 will be found in Appendix C.
LABORATORY WORK.
Pathological and Bacteriological Examinations.
The agreement entered into by the Council on the 1st February, 1925, was still in operation
during 1931. The provisions of the agreement are set out on page 23 of the Annual Report of the
Medical Officer for 1927.
