MATERNITY AND CHILD WELFARE.
The Council's dental scheme for mothers and children under five provides for:—
(1) The dental inspection of all expectant mothers who attend the Centres for consultation
with the doctors.
(2) The treatment free of cost of all expectant mothers whose incomes fall below the economic
scale set out in the Declaration Form.
(3) The complete treatment, including the provision of dentures for all expectant mothers
either free, at part cost, or whole cost of the dentures in accordance with the economic scale set
out by the Council for the provision of dentures.
(4) The same benefit is extended to all nursing mothers up to a period of 12 months after the
birth of the baby.
(5) The construction of dentures is undertaken by private dentists under the same conditions
of service as required by the National Health benefit scheme.
(6) All infants under five years may be inspected and treated at the Centres either free in
the case of those whose parents are below the economic scale, or on payment of 2s. 6d. for all others.
