Hospital Buildings.
No additions have been made to the Hospital during the year, but alterations have been carried
out to E. Ward, the lavatories being enlarged and lavatory basins installed.
A new feed pump of larger capacity has been provided for the boiler.
The Council at its meeting on the 15th April, 1924, passed the following:—
"Your Committee is satisfied that the needs of the district require—
(1) That accommodation should be provided for 32 beds at Kingsbury for a possible
small-pox outbreak.
(2) The erection of a two-storied cubicle observation ward at the Municipal Hospital,
each story of which should contain 16 beds.
(3) That the existing nursing accommodation at the Municipal Hospital should be
increased concurrently with any such extensions as indicated in (2) above.
We are of opinion, however, that the above additional accommodation should be proceeded
with stage by stage, and recommend, therefore that during the current financial year the Council
proceed with (1) above, the intention being that the 32 beds to be provided shall serve as an
overflow for ordinary infectious diseases cases, so long as the beds are not required for small-pox
cases, thus serving to reduce the present deficit of beds for treatment of infectious cases generally."
The Ministry of Health have held an enquiry into the proposal to rebuild Kingsbury Hospital,
and their formal sanction has now been obtained.
A. G. TROUP,
Medical Superintendent.
