Food Unfit for Human Consumption.—The following is a list of the articles seized or surrendered
during the year as unfit for food.
Fish (surrendered) 412 lbs.
Fruit and Vegetables (surrendered) 232 lbs.
Tinned Milk (surrendered) 64 lbs.
Bacon (seized) 50 lbs.
Bacon (surrendered) 58 lbs.
Lambs (two) (surrendered) 45 lbs.
Total 861
With regard to the 50 lbs. of unsound bacon seized as unfit for human consumption, legal proceedings
were instituted by the Council against the shopkeeper. The Council obtained a conviction,
and a fine was imposed of £15 and costs by the Magistrate.
The Middlesex County Council is the Authority in Willesden for purposes of the Food and
Drugs Acts.
I am indebted to Mr. R. Robinson, Chief Officer, Public Control Department, for the following
tabular statement, shewing the number of samples taken in Willesden and the result of prosecutions
instituted under the Acts during the year 1925 :—

Public Health (Milk & Cream) Regulations, 1912-1917.

The regulations are administered in Willesden by the Middlesex County Council, and I am
indebted to their Public Control Officer for the following statement :—
" Inspections were made under these various regulations in order to see that the requirements
with respect to labelling were complied with, but as in numerous instances the inspector
was able to satisfy himself on this point without taking samples for analysis, I am not able
to give statistics of any value showing the work under this heading."
