It will be noted that of the total number of houses erected during the past five years, 261 were
erected by the district council.
The 974 houses erected by private enterprise are not for working class people.
The Council have during the next year or so provided for an additional 200 houses to be erected
on their building estate at Stonebridge.
Overcrowding.—Overcrowding in the poorer type of tenement house in Willesden is year •
by year becoming more and more prevalent. It is impossible without taking a special census of the
district to estimate accurately the extent of the overcrowding existing at the present time in Willesden,
but that it is extensive is borne out by information coming to the notice of the health officials during
visits of inspection and by receipt of complaints. The following table gives some particulars of cases
of overcrowding which have come to the notice of the Health Department.
