AMBULANCE FACILITIES.
Motor Ambu lances are available as follows:—
(a) For infectious cases—
1 infectious ambulance.
(b) For no.n-infectious and accident cases—
1 accident ambulance.
These Motor Ambulances have been established and are maintained by the Willesden Urban
District Council.
The garage is situated at the Municipal Hospital, Brentfield Road, Neasden, N.W. 10.
An all-night service has been established, but this is only partial,- as there is only one man on
duty, and any calls coming when he is out cannot be dealt with at once.
LABORATORY WORK.
Drs. Thresh and Beale (The Counties' Public Health Laboratories), of 91, Queen Victoria Street,
London, E.C., continue to act as the Council's Bacteriologists. The arrangements were, however,
reorganised in the early part of the year under review.
An agreement, dated the 29th March, 1921, was made between Drs. Thresh and Beale and the
Council whereby the former undertook to carry out the examination of—
(1) Diphtheria swabs;
(2) Sputa for Tubercle;
(3) Blood for Typhoid; and
(4) Swabs and Fluid for Meningitis,
for the sum of £236 5s. 0d., plus postage, telegrams and telephone charges. It was further agreed
that the Bacteriologists should supply free of charge 4 gross of swabs for distribution to the medical
practitioners and the hospitals in Willesden.
The arrangements now made provide for the result of the swab to be telegraphed or telephoned
to the medical practitioner direct, followed by a written report of the result, together with a sterile
swab in the place of the one submitted. Sterile swabs can also be obtained by medical practitioners
at Health Department (Town Hall), the Fire Stations and the Municipal Hospital.
The following table shews the Chemical and Bacteriological examinations made during the year
1921
