Recommendations.
(1) That the Council take on lease for a period of 21 years, terminable at 7 or 14 years
at their option, the Wharf at 429, Harrow Road belonging to The Grand Junction
Canal Co., at a rent of £75 per annum.
(2) That the Council enter into a contract for the barging away and disposal of the house
refuse.
(3) That the hours of labour be as in the foregoing report.
(4) That the wages of the drivers be £3 15s. per week, fillers £3 10s. per week, trimmers
£3 per week, Superintendent at Wharf £200 per annum, foremen over dustmen
£200 per annum.
(N.B.—The Foremen at present engaged on this work receive £143 per annum,
including War Bonus.)
(5) That the Electrical Engineer be instructed to engage the Drivers.
(6) That the Medical Officer of Health be instructed to engage all other necessary workers.
WILLESDEN.—COLLECTION, REMOVAL, AND DISPOSAL OF HOUSE REFUSE
FOR THE YEAR 1920-21 FROM THE URBAN DISTRICT OF WILLESDEN.
By Direct Labour.
(a) By Electric Vehicles.
24,691 tons or 76,167 cube yards of house refuse require fo be collected annually in 279 working
days. Adopting an Electrical Vehicle of a capacity of 7 cube yards this means that 13 vehicles of
this capacity each doing 3 loads a day will remove per day 39 loads with a total cubic capacity of
273 cube yards or 88.5 tons in one day equal to 76,167 cubic yards or 24,691 tons in 279 working
days or one year.
