9,649 Attendances have been registered at the School
Clinics during the year, 3,126 being attendances at the Inspection
Clinics, 5,669 at the Eye Clinic and 854 at the Ringworm
Clinic.
Provision of Meals and Glaxo to Expectant and Nursing
Mothers and Children under 14 years of age.
The feeding of School Children has been carried on
under the same conditions as hitherto. Appendix I iii. gives
certain statistical information relative thereto.
The feeding of expectant and nursing mothers and chilrden
under 5 years of age was begun during the week
ending December 23rd, 1916, and between that date and
December 29th, 1917, 3,805 meals were supplied to expectant
and nursing mothers and 10,010 meals to children under
five.
In addition, Glaxo has been supplied free under certain
conditions to expectant and nursing mothers and to children
under five, between the same dates. During this period
1,409 lbs. of Glaxo have been supplied to expectant and
nursing mothers and 3,352 lbs. of Glaxo to children under
five.
On July 6th, 1917, a new scale for the free provision of
meals and Glaxo to expectant and nursing mothers and
school children was adopted as follows:—
