Municipal Offices,
Dyne Road, Kilburn, N.W.,
22iid February, 1917.
To the Willesden Urban District Council—
The Local Sanitary Authority.
The Local Education Authority.
I beg to submit herewith the 41st Annual Health Report
for Willesden for the year 1916. This Report includes:—
(1) The 41st Annual Report on the Health and Sanitary
condition of the district.
(2) The 9th Annual Report on the Health of Children
attending the Public Elementary Schools.
(3) The 25th Annual Hospital Report.
The present Report sets forth the work undertaken by
the Council as the Health Authority for Willesden to keep
the population fit—mothers fit to bear healthy infants ; infants
fit to enter school at the age of five; children fit to receive
education while attending school, and on leaving, fit to enter
upon the business of life.
After this a hiatus is disclosed in the health activities of
the Council for at the present time it is not directly within the
scope of their functions to make provision for the care of the
adult population in the same way or to the same extent as for
the population up to 14 years.
The various methods which the Council adopt in connection
with their work of maintaining health may be thus
classified:—
(1) Building up the body to resist attacks of disease.
