of maintenance of Pavilion "B" occupied as above would
be £2,920, half of which would be repayable by the Local
Government Board.
Recommendation.
Having regard to the alterations, Pavilion "B" would
not likely be ready for occupation until 1st July, 1917, and
I would therefore recommend the Committee to provide in
their next year's estimate for the following:—
(1) Estimated cost of Maintenance of
Pavilion "B" for 9 months *£2,000
(2) Cost of Alterations to Pavilion "B"
as outlined above *Estimate to
be obtained.
*Half of both these sums would be repayable by the
Local Government Board.
Accommodation Generally.
1. Patients. Pavilion "B" is at present used for
doubtful or complicated cases of Scarlet Fever or Diphtheria.
Pavilion "C" has practically not been used at all during
the past two years, mainly because the number of
patients has been low, but also because the Pavilion is cold
and comfortless in the winter months, when epidemics of
Scarlet Fever prevail, and ill-suited on that account to receive
patients.
Having adapted "B" as above, it will be necessary
to utilise "C" and for this purpose the following alterations
are required:—
(a) The installation of steam radiators.
(b) The installation of electric light.
(c) The provision of a new sink in the kitchen.
(d) Increased shelving for storage of food.
(e) A re-arrangement of the bath and lavatory basins.
