APPENDIX C.
Report on the School Medical Service, including the ReOrganisation
of the School Attendance Department.
Municipal Offices,
Dyne Road,
Kilburn, N.W.,
3/10/13.
To the Chairman and Members of the
Education Committee.
Miss Lupton and Gentlemen,
SCHOOL MEDICAL SERVICE.
The Board of Education have recommended the appointment
of two whole-time assistant medical officers instead of
the existing 36 part-time assistant medical inspectors, for
the following reasonsi:
(1) That greater uniformity would be secured.
(2) That the "following up" of cases found to be
tive at routine medical inspection is, under the existing
system, unsatisfactory, and would be difficult
to organise efficiently.
(3) That the present system is unnecessarily expensive,
and the Board will not be able to pay grant at the
full rate unless they are satisfied that the arrangements
made for School Medical Inspection are
efficient and economical.
(4) That the re-organisation of the school attendance
department with a view to bringing it into closer
association with the School Medical Service would
be facilitated.
