to them, there having been only 7 deaths from
Scarlet Fever and 8 from Diphtheria during the year. On
the other hand, the number of deaths from Measles and
Whooping Cough is always considerable, and during last
year there were 69 deaths from Measles and 23 from
Whooping Cough. This is a subject of increasing importance

hospital treatment for the worst forms of these two diseases,
in respect of which 2,176 voluntary notifications were
received during the year.
874 notifications of Tuberculosis, referring to 514
cases, were received during the year. Since the notification
of Tuberculosis in one form or another became operative
in 1909, 2,121 notifications have been received, referring
to 1,399 cases, 720 of which were still in Williesden
under observation at the end of the year 1913.
I am, Gentleman,
Your obediient Servant,
GEORGE F. BUCHAN,
