refer to the fact that it is now well recognised that
a small percentage of enteric fever patients retain
their infectiousness, that is, the specific organisms
of the disease may be retained in their tissues, for
it would seem, an almost indefinite period. Well
authenticated cases in which the organism has been
detected after 20 or 30 years from the date of the
attack have recently been reported.
It is not known at present how these cases can
best be freed from their infection.
