Comments of A.S.M.O.—Dr. Clayton says: "Undoubtedly the greatest
defects in the school come under the headings of eyes, enlarged
tonsils, adenoids, decayed teeth, and dirty heads."
Dr. Beresford says: "I have found the health of both boys and girls
uniformly good. Verminous heads have been comparatively few
among the boys, among the girls they have occurred only too
frequently; defective vision has occurred frequently among boys and
girls, and parents have recognised that the defect may cripple
the child in after life, and have taken measures to remedy the
same. Cutaneous diseases have been few, and mentally deficient
children very few. I think that inspection at this school has done
good, and many cases of filthy children would have been allowed
to roam at large had it not been for the constant inspection by
the officials."
