whilst on duty in the wards. Four nurses and two
ward maids contracted scarlet fever, two nurses
enteric fever, and one nurse erysipelas. All recovered,
except Nurse Gladys Gallier who, I greatly regret to
say, died of a malignant attack of scarlet fever.
Nurse Gallier, had only been on the staff some two
months, but even in that time had shown great
promise. Her death came as a great shock to us all.
HOSPITAL BUILDINGS.
No change has taken place in these, except that
the lavatories and W.C.'s in Block " 0," the typhoid
wards, have beeu enlarged and freshly equipped.
The Steward was also provided with a separate
office for his own special use. His old office being
given up to the medical staff, who hitherto had used
it jointly with him.
HOSPITAL EXPENDITURE.
As in previous years I submit a statement of
expenses connected with the hospital for the year.
The amount shown does not include the repayment of
Sinking Fund and interest on loans on the hospital.
