Referring to the above list it will be seen that
diphtheria is the only one that is above the average.
Deaths of Illegitimate Children.— There were
32 deaths, inquests being held in two cases. The
certified causes of death were bronchitis, 3 ; convulsions,
1; consumption of bowels, 1; debility, 15;
diarrhoea, 4; inflammation of bowels, 1 ; jaundice,
1 ; premature birth, 1; skin disease, 1 ; syphilis, 1;
throat disease, 1.
The verdicts in the inquests were :—convulsions,
1; want of proper attention at birth, 1 ; total, 32.
