Dr. Levwis-Faning has analysed the statistics
of Middlesex with regard to pulmonary tuberculosis
(British Medical Journal 27th November, 1943)
and his conclusion is that there is no evidence,
from the experience of the tuberculosis service
of the County of Middlesex, of a lowered
resistance to the disease to the point at which
duration of the illness was shortened, and hence
no evidence that lowered resistance was a causative
factor in the increase of tuberculosis mortality
which occurred 1940-1.
