PUBLIC WATER SUPPLY.
Air raid damage was experienced in the
Borough from the end of August, 1940, and up to
the end of the year 284 special bacteriological
examinations of water samples were made. These
samples were taken for two reasons, either because
of damage to water mains when the sample was taken
at the nearest available house, or because of
there being damage to a house sufficiently great
to justify thinking of the possibility of damage
to water services pipes off the water main. The
results were submitted to the Ministry of Health.
