Factories, Workshops, Workplaces and Outworkers.
During 1935, 377 inspections were made of factories,
workshops and workplaces, and 41 inspections of outworkers'
premises were also carried out. In matters which
are the concern of H.M. Inspector of Factories, he is notified
by this Department.
So far as the provision of sanitary accommodation is
concerned the Wembley Council, who are the authority
for this matter under Section 22 of the Public Health Act
(Amendment Act), 1890, insist on the accommodation complying
with the Home Office Order of 1903. Any defects
found, or insufficiency of sanitary accommodation, are followed
up, and it has been our experience that preliminary
notices are complied with without recourse to statutory proceedings.
