SMOKE ABATEMENT.
Chimneys of the various factories in the district are
kept under frequent observation, and when necessity arises
formal observations are taken. I have found that where,
as a result of investigation, faulty stoking has been the
cause, the advice of a technical officer is welcomed by factory
proprietors and that a marked improvement usually follows.
It was not necessary to institute any legal proceedings
during the year.
PUBLIC CONVENIENCES.
The various Public Conveniences are controlled by your
Public Health Department and are kept in a satisfactory
manner.
During the year a new Public Convenience was erected
in Lancelot Road, thereby providing for the needs of central
Wembley.
MORTUARY.
The Council, during 1934, appointed a Mortuary
Keeper and Handyman, whose time is devoted to the work
at the Mortuary and the Old Wembley Burial Ground.
Periodical inspection of the Mortuary is carried out by
the Sanitary Officers.
During 1934, 121 bodies were deposited, 41 post-mortem
examinations were made, and 31 Coroner's inquests were
held in the school-room adjoining.
