PETROLEUM (REGULATION) ACTS. 1928 MP 1956.
One licence for the storage of petroleum spirit in an underground tank was
discontinued during the year, the licences in question having changed his vehicles
to diesel-burning: thirty-three premises remained on the Register. In one
instance the provision of an additional tank required the increase of a licence
"by 2,000 gallons, and one licence was reduced by 1 ,000 gallons, two tanks being
out of service and made safe.
At the end of the year the total quantity for which licences were on issue,
in respect of petroleum spirit and petroleum mixtures, stood at 41,885 gallons.
The process of testing the older installations, in line with the requirements
of the Licence Conditions, has continued, any small defects being remedied at the
time. All licencees with electrically operated pumps have been reminded that
1st January 19^0, is the deadline by which such apparatus will be required to be
of approved flameproof oans-Lruotian and installation.
I am,
Yours obediently,
J. B. Wilson.
Chief Public Health Inspector.
