There is a further decrease, from last year, in the number of food
poisoning cases notified. Of the three cases, in only one instance was
the causative organism identified. The notification was received some
time after the initial symptoms, which hampered our investigations but it
also appeared that the man concerned travelled considerably and had meals
and snacks in a variety of placer which made it extremely difficult to
trace the origin of his illness.
The other two cases were man and wife, but in this instance, the
laboratory report on specimens shewed, "no intestinal pathogens identified",
and our investigations did not point to any particular item of food as
being responsible for the illness.
It is impossible to say just how the cases arose, whether the fault
lies at home or in a shop or cafe.
