Mrs. Strugnell and Gentlemen,
I have much pleasure in presenting to you my Annual Report on the Health of
the District for the year 1943.
It is drawn up on the lines indicated in Circular 3,773 of the 10th
March, 1943 - as requested by the Ministry of Health.

NATURAL AND SOCIAL CONDITIONS,
The population is largely residential, and consists chiefly of people whose
occupation lies outside the urban area. Those employed in the district, apart
from the tradesmen and their employees, are mainly skilled workers at dental
manufacturing, lithographic, printing and optical works.
Relief is supplied by the Public Assistance Committee of the Hertfordshire
County Council.
