of the Barnet Urban District Council.
Mrs. Strugnell and Gentlemen,
I have much pleasure in presenting to you my Annual Report
on the Health of the District for the year 1938.
It is drawn up on the lines indicated in Circular 1728 of
25th October, 1938, as requested by the Ministry of Health.

NATURAL AND SOCIAL CONDITIONS.
The population is largely residential, and consists chicfly
of people whose occupation lies outside the urban area. Those
employed in the district, apart from the tradesmen and their
employees, arc mainly skilled workers at dental manufacturing,
lithographic, printing and optical works.
Relief is supplied by the Public Assistance Committee of the
Herts County Council.
