INQUESTS.
57 Inquests were held upon Deaths of Parishioners during
the year 1917.
INFECTIOUS DISEASES AND THE MEASURES TAKEN
TO PREVENT THEIR SPREAD.
It will be seen from Table IV. that 1,224 Notification Certificates
of Infectious Illness were received from medical practitioners.
These figures include for the first time the notifications of cases of
Measles. If we exclude these latter the Notifications of Infectious
Diseases compare favourably with those during the preceding year
(306 as compared with 347).
In all infected homes the disinfection was performed by the
Sanitary Authority. A visit was paid to every house, and it was
ascertained that cases of infectious illness occurred in 4 houses where
there were "grave" insanitary conditions. In 18 houses less
serious insanitary conditions were found.

The rate in the Northern Division was2.7 ; while that in the Southern Division was4.0.
