ANNUAL REPORT
of the
MEDICAL OFFICER OF HEALTH.
I have the honour to submit the health statistics for the year
1897.
The number of deaths registered in the Parish of St. Mary,
Newington, during the year of 52 weeks, was 1894, of which 918
were males, and 97 6 females. The births registered in the same
period, were 4,248, of which 2,195 were males, and 2053 females.
The population of the parish was estimated at the middle of
the year to be 122,191.

The following table gives the area of each ward with the density of the population :—
