Pet Animals Act, 1951
Five licences were granted by the Coundil during 1964 under
the above-mentioned Act in respect of pet an'imal shops in the
Borough.
Swimming Bath
The figures for attendances at the Barrowell Green Open Air Swimming Bath for the past two years were:

The arrangements whereby samples of the water from the
swimming bath are taken at regular intervals has been continued.
The results of the samples taken during 1964 were uniformly
satisfactory. A notice continues to be posted at the Bath informing
the public of the result of these samples.
Prevention of Damage by Pests Act, 1949
During 1964, 358 complaints of rats and mice were received
and dealt with, as against 458 in 1963.
In April, a baiting and poisoriing treatment was carried out by
the Borough Engineer's Department in the Council's soil sewers.
530 manholes were baited. The poison bait used for this treatment
was pinhead oatmeal plus warfarin. In 26 of the man-holes baited,
complete or part takes of bait were noted.
In October, a further baiting and poisoning treatment was
carried out in the Council's soil sewers. On this occasion, 530
manholes were baited with pinhead oatmeal plus warfarin. In 22
of the manholes baited complete or part takes of bait were noted.
All work in the sewers was carried out in accordance with the
recommendations of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries & Food.
