POPULATION
The Registrar-General's estimated population of the Borough
at the middle of 1963 was 71,210, a decrease of 160 as compared
with 1962.
BIRTHS—BIRTH RATES
The nett total births for the year accredited to the district
were 1,012, an increase of sixty-five on the preceding year. Of
these, 540 were males and 472 were females (40 males and 27 females
being illegitimate).
The birth rate for the year was 15.63 per 1,000 of the population.
The birth rate of England and Wales was 18.2.
During the year, the number of births recorded was 47 more
than the number of deaths, as compared with 37 less in 1962.
