Under the provisions of the Middlesex County Council Act
1950, relating to hawkers of food and their premises, there were 99
hawkers on the register at the end of 1963. Of these, 25 have
storage premises in the Borough and 74 have their storage premises
in other areas.
Post-Mortem Inspection of Animals
No slaughtering of animals took place in the Borough during
1963.
Ice-cream Sampling
During the year under review, 30 samples of ice-cream were
obtained and submitted to the Public Health Laboratory for
bacteriological examination. The results were:—
Grade 1 27
„ 2 1
„ 3 2
„ 4 -
30
For the most part these results are eminently satisfactory. The
sample which gave the Grade 2 result was taken from a confectioner's
shop. Of the two samples giving Grade 3 results, one
was taken at a cafe and the other from an itinerant vendor. In
each case the matter was taken up with the firm concerned and the
method of distribution checked. Subsequent samples proved
satisfactory.
Establishments for Massage or Special Treatment
Under the Middlesex County Council Act, 1944, one new
licence was granted and 15 licences were renewed in respect of
establishments for massage, chiropody or similar treatment.
Pet Animals Act, 1951
Five licences were granted by the Council during 1963 under
the above-mentioned Act in respect of pet animal shops in the
Borough.
