It has been our consistent practice to keep general practitioners
in touch with recent developments in the field of preventive
medicine, so that integration can be achieved. This policy is
showing useful dividends.
(b) Medical Examinations
During 1961, 41 medical examinations were carried out in
respect of the new entrants to the Council's service.
In addition to these medical examinations, quite a number of
medical reports were obtained on employees absent from duty for
more than a short period through sickness. These reports were
obtained from the family doctor with whom, as I have already said,
we have the most happy relations, or from a hospital.
