[Report of the Medical Officer of Health for Southgate]

One case of scabies was reported in 1950; the patient was a
hospital nurse living in lodgings who was anxious to obtain treatment
at a disinfestation centre. In this case, arrangements were
made with the Medical Officer of Health of Edmonton to undertake
the necessary treatment. No difficulty is expected to arise in
future cases. The courtesy of neighbouring authorities, e.g., Enfield
or Edmonton, could undoubtedly be relied upon in the very few
instances in which help might be required.
It was not found necessary to send any families for cleansing
during the year in respect of infestation by lice, although the
necessary facilities are available should the need arise. It should
be noted that details of infestation occurring among school children
and dealt with by County Council staff are not included in this
report. It will suffice to state that the incidence of infestation
among children in Southgate is very low, and has shown a decrease
over the past few years.
NATIONAL ASSISTANCE ACT, 1948

1950 under this section.
