Work carried out at the Council's laboratory:
HOSPITAL | BOROUGH | |||
---|---|---|---|---|
Positive | Positive | |||
Negative | Negative | |||
Swabs for Diphtheria bacilli | 432 | 2327 | 6 | 605 |
Swabs for Streptococci | – | 1 | – | 7 |
Swabs for Haemolytic streptococci | – | – | – | 6 |
Sputa for Tubercle bacilli | – | 1 | 14 | 108 |
Total | 3507 | (1938, 5095) |
The decrease in the work carried out at the
laboratory was due to the marked drop in the number
patients treated at the Isolation Hospital, and to
the very low incidence of diphtheria within the
Borough.
