Ophthalmic Clinic : Garfield Road Council School, New Southgate.
Dental Clinic: Winchmore Council School, Highfield Road.
Orthopaedic Treatment.—Arrangements are made for the
treatment of any orthopaedic cases discovered in connection with the
Maternity and Child Welfare services. No such cases were
met with during the year.
As before, the Middlesex County Council undertakes the
responsibility when the children reach school age.
Institutional Provision for umnarried mothers, illegitimate
infants and homeless children. No change from the arrangements
noted in the Report for 1930.
Ambulance Facilities.—The details set out in last year's
Report regarding ambulance facilities available within the Borough
remain as there stated, with two alterations, both intended to
improve the existing service.
Accident cases are now removed free of charge if the "accident"
occurs anywhere within the Borough. Previous to this decision,
such cases were only removed without cost if the "accident"
occurred in the street. This new procedure has obviated certain
cases of hardship, and appears to be operating in a satisfactory
manner. All "accidents" must be certified by the Medical Officer
of Health.
The second alteration to the facilities set out in last year's
Report consists of the provision of electrically heated blankets and
resuscitating apparatus in all ambulances, instead of the accident
ambulance only as hitherto.
All cases in which there is doubt as to the exact charge incurred
are referred to the Medical Officer of Health before being dealt with
by the Treasurer's Department. All cases where the services of the
ambulance are asked for to remove cases resident outside the
Borough or to undertake long journeys, are also referred to the
Medical Officer of Health.
Council Employees.—Fifteen Council employees were
examined at the Town Hall during 1936, either for admittance to
the superannuation scheme or before being accepted into the
Council's service.
