To the Members of the South crate Urban District
Council.
G ENTLEMEN,
I have the honour to present to you my report for
the year 11)00.
Taken as a whole the general health of the District has been good
throughout the year, and there has been no serious outbreak of any
disease. Consequently the death returns are considerably below the
average all along the line and show a great improvement on those of
the previous year whose record was not so good.
Last year the Local Government Board issued new and improved
tables for recording vital statistics; some alterations will therefore be
noticed in this respect as compared with previous reports.
The subject of Diphtheria has again received my careful attention,
and it is to be hoped that the measures I have advocated may do much
towards lessening the occurrence and preventing the spread of this disease
in the District.
The Report of the Sanitary Inspector Mr. Brown is appended to
this report and in my opinion constitutes avery excellent record of good
and useful sanitary work done by him and the Assistant Inspector,
Mr. Still, during the year.
I have also to thank Mr. Brown and Mr. Still for valuable
assistance in compiling this report.
I am, Gentlemen,
Your obedient servant,
A. SIDNEY RANSOME.
