NOTES ON SANITARY WORK PERFORMED
DURING THE YEAR.
1976 Inspections were made, and a large number of
sanitary improvements have been carried out.
229 Notices were served for the abatement of nuisances,
remedying sanitary defects, insufficient water supply, cleansing
premises, etc., and refer to about 492 houses and premises.
Nine Cottages have been closed as unfit for human habitation,
as the result of representations made to the respective
owners by the Council. Thirteen Cottages have been
demolished, and eleven new ones erected on the same sites.
All the Cowsheds, Dairies, Slaughterhouses, and Bakehouses
of the district have been inspected periodically, and are
kept, on the whole, in a satisfactory condition, in accordance
with the Bye-laws.
