MASS RADIOGRAPHY
In July the Mass Radiography Unit No. 5A paid a visit
to this district operating at the Darby and Joan Hut, Pinner
Road, Northwood; Manor Farm Hall, Manor Farm Approach,
Ruislip; and Victoria Hall, Dulverton Road, Ruislip Manor. This
arrangement of operating in three localities of the district showed a
marked advance over previous visits. The following figures show
the number of persons X-rayed and those who were recalled for a
second examination. It must be emphasised that these further
examinations do not always mean infection from tuberculosis, but
may have regard to some other abnormality of the chest or the heart.
Summary of Survey Male Female Total
Number examined 1,404 1,706 3,110
Number recalled for large films 80
Disposal of Large Film Cases
(а) No further action 61
(b) To return to Unit for further X-ray 3
(c) Further investigation required (this does not necessarily
indicate tuberculosis) 13
(d) Known cases had or having treatment 1
(e) Failed to return for large films 2
Facilities for the public to obtain their appointments were kindly
given by the following:—
Messrs. Brown & Shaw, 14, Long Drive, South Ruislip.
Mr. G. J. Young, 205, Field End Road, Eastcote.
Messrs. Christopher & Fry, 64, Victoria Road, Ruislip.
M.C.C. Public Library, Joel Street, Northwood Hills.
M.C.C. Public Library, Manor Farm, Ruislip.
Public Health Department, Council Offices, Northwood.
I would like to place on record my appreciation of the efficient
manner in which the staff of these offices co-operated, thereby contributing
very greatly to the smooth working of the scheme.
