the cowshed in which wash basins with a proper water
supply are fixed and where the milkers can keep their
overalls.
Cleansing of the udders and grooming of the flanks of
the Cows is essential to prevent contamination of the milk
at the time of milking.
IV. Condition of the Dairies, Utensils and Receptacles
for Milk.
The Dairy, i.e., the place where the milk is stored,
should have no communication with the cowshed or farmdairy
house; there is a want of proper dairy accommodation
at many of the farms.
All utensils and receptacles for storing or conveying
milk should be scalded out with boiling water before each
time of using; we find that the cowkeepers in the District
give strict attention to this matter.
The method of delivering milk in glass bottles with
patent cardboard stoppers is good, but the attention of the
consumer must be drawn to the desirability of scalding out
the bottles immediately when emptied.
Slaughter Houses.
The Local Government Board Model Regulations
controlling the management of Slaughter Houses have
been adopted.
